Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk says teammate Ibrahima Konate is a “fantastic defender” and “example” of how to deal with adversity after the Reds secured their second clean sheet this week in Saturday’s 2-0 win over .
Konate has been at times this season and was at the end of the season.

“Everyone at his best helps the team – that’s why it’s a team sport,” Van Dijk said after Arne Slot’s side followed up Tuesday’s Champions League win at Inter Milan with Saturday’s victory and clean sheet against the Seagulls.
“Ibou is a fantastic defender. When the team is not performing as a collective then obviously we as the last last line could be exposed and that happened at times.
“Individual mistakes cost us, including myself at times. Unfortunately that is part of the game but it’s how you react and come back from that.
“Ibou as an example has been the last weekends especially outstanding. He is working on things like we all do and he helps me and I help him and that’s how it should be.

“We are not perfect and he wants the best for the club and I’m pretty sure that will be absolutely fine.”
On the impact of a much-needed second consecutive win, Van Dijk added: “The mood in the dressing room has always been very good. What I see is we have the will to turn this around and the hunger and the energy to do so.
“The last few weeks we have been struggling and going through up and downs which is tough to take but it’s all about the hard work, the confidence, and the way we are with each other which is what matters.
“You see today and in the midweek game how much commitment we have.”
