Emily Sonnett’s season is over.
The defender for the U.S. girls’s nationwide staff and Gotham FC underwent surgical procedure earlier this week to restore the ruptured patellar tendon in her left knee, which can maintain her sidelined for the rest of the 2026 Nationwide Ladies’s Soccer League season.

Sonnet suffered the damage in Gotham’s 2-2 draw on the Portland Thorns final Friday when she planted awkwardly within the synthetic turf and fell to the bottom simply seven minutes into the match. She was then carried off the pitch on a stretcher.
